The church was constructed in the XVII-XVIIIth centuries in the city of Causeni by the founders Grigore Callimachi and Bishop of Proilavia. Radu and Voicul Stanciul used to be the painters of the church. The dwelling painting is dating back to 1763. Settlement of the church lower than the ground level was something unique, which made it appear as if hollowed out into the ground. It is possible that the church deepening might have had been dictated by the interdictions of Tartars settled in Causeni in the XVIIIth century. The church walls are integrally covered by frescoes. This is a monument of a distinct artistic and historic importance.
